Assignment Sheet: Portrait of a Collaborator

Portrait of a Collaborator – A. 1.2

These tired old stereotypes are NOT what you will portray in your Portrait of a Collaborator.

Web 2.0 Portrait Examples:

Glogster for Educators: See my Portrait of a Collaborator example: "Achieve Together!"

Fodey.com: Newspaper Clipping Generator: "Calling All Teachers!"

ALSO: See the portraits of previous LS5443 students who have volunteered to share with you. Check them out on the CW Collaborator Portraits page!

Animoto Video Examples:

Unacceptable: BIG oops – no Works Cited - “Share the Learning & the Fun” http://animoto.com/play/MDZddb8TMihvasVi2WETuQ (Free - 30-second version - Note: It is extremely difficult to cover the requirements of this assignment in just 30 seconds.)

Good: Moreillon – “Better Together” http://animoto.com/play/iy7sg9n7FkKFqFQUww50bg ($3.00 - less than some spiral notebooks - 1 minute, 22 seconds)

Best: Moreillon – “Moreillon - Share the Learning and the Fun” http://animoto.com/play/Kd8bMsHbitOmUC1VlUVbgg ($3.00 - less than some coffee drinks – 1 minute, 06 seconds)

This is an individual project. The goals of this mini-project are to increase our intrapersonal intelligence (to know ourselves better) and to consider and celebrate aspects of our personalities that will influence our work as collaborating school librarians. Sharing our personal characteristics will help us build our classroom community. This learning experience may also help us form and achieve effective partnerships for class projects this semester. This mini-project will also give you the opportunity to use your creativity and to experiment with Web 2.0 tools.

Overarching SBEC Outcomes for LS5443: Librarians as Instructional Partners:

Collaboration: Standard 1 (1) Participate as an educational leader, an equal partner, and a change agent in the curriculum development process at both the campus and district levels.

Communication: Standard 5 (3) Implement strategies for effective internal and external communications.

Competence: Standard 6 (2) Understand the role of the school library media program as a central element in the intellectual life of the school.
